Reginald cut his teeth in the Pensions’ Industry with Old Mutual in 1991 where he remained until 2003 when he joined Fidelity Life Assurance. He has served Fidelity Life Assurance in various capacities including assignments in Angola and Zambia. Currently he is the General Manager in charge of Employee Benefits. Reginald is also a Director at Zimbabwe Actuarial Company. Reginald holds a Diploma in Marketing Management (IMM-RSA), an Associate Diploma from the Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe (IIZ), a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, a Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) from the University of Gloucestershire (UK) and a Post Graduate Diploma with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK).

Ann e-Marie D’Alton
Chief Executive Officer – Batseta Council of Retirement Funds for South Africa

Anne-Marie D’Alton is the Chief Executive Officer of Batseta. Batseta is a non-profit organisation and professional body that advance the knowledge and practice of pension funds, its boards of trustees and principal offi cers. Armed with an MBA from the University of Pretoria and 20 odd years in the Department of Labour, she aims to take the Batseta to new heights of professionalism. “We want our members to practice their occupation with confi dence and thrive within it,” she says. Her passion for Batseta stems from the fact that it’s a service organization that’s been established for all the right reasons. Justin Bgoni
Chief Executive Officer – Zimbabwe Stock Exchange

Justin is a Chartered Accountant with over 19 years of international experience in the financial and public sector. Justin holds amongst other qualifications a Bachelor of Accounting Science from the University of South Africa and a Master’s in Applied Finance from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. Some notable previous appointments include being a Management Consultant at McKinsey Incorporated and Chief Financial Officer at New Zealand Stock Exchange.

Prof Mthuli Ncube
Minister of Finance and Economic Development

Prof Mthuli Ncube is the current Minister of Finance and Economic Development in Zimbabwe where he is responsible for the stewardship of public finances and economic management, and also Governor for the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and African Development Bank. Previously he was Professor of Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford, former Vice President, and Chief Economist of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB,) and is ranked a top economic thinker on Africa and globally.


He is also the HSBC Distinguished Professor of Banking and Finance at the Graduate School of Business Administration, University of the Witwatersrand, on a part-time basis. Ncube holds a PhD in Economics (Mathematical Finance) from University of Cambridge, Selwyn College, UK, on ‘Pricing Options under Stochastic Volatility.’ Starting his career as a Lecturer in Finance at The London School of Economics, he has been the Dean of the Faculty of Commerce Law and Management, and Dean and Professor of Finance at Wits Business School, all at University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, founding the Centre for Entrepreneurship.


He has extensive experience as an investment manager and investment banker, having worked at Investec Asset Management and Quantum Global Group. He served as Board member of the South African Financial Services Board (FSB), Chairman of the National Small Business Advisory Council, Chairman of the Board of African Economic Research Consortium(AERC) in Kenya, Board member of the Global Development Network (GDN), Board member of the Royal Africa Society and London, Board member of OMFIF, London.

Benjamin Sithole
Head of Research – Old Mutual Investment Group

Benjamin Sithole, CFA, is the Head of Research. He has more than 16 years working experience in the financial services sector and has worked within the Old Mutual Group in Zimbabwe and Kenya. Ben holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) degree from the University of Zimbabwe and an MBA from Warwick University. He is a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA); Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) and a CFA Charter holder.

Alfred Slager

Trustee at the Dutch Pension Fund for General Practitioners

Alfred  Slager is an economist, trustee, and advisor who has worked and published  widely on issues to help investors and pension fund boards with their strategy and investment management. He is professor at TIAS Business School, Tilburg University, and a trustee at the Dutch pension fund for general practitioners, SPH. He has  performed many different roles, generally bridging academic finance and practical investing. Starting out as a portfolio manager in 1995, he spent 15 years as research analyst, investment strategist, and chief investment officer at different pension funds and investment management firms, earning his PhD cum laude in 2005. Over the  years, Alfred has advised many institutional investors on successful long-term investment  strategy and investment governance.


He has written several  books, including  “Achieving Investment Excellence”, “Investment Beliefs: A Positive Approach to  Investing” as well as on the internationalization strategies of  banks and the  effectiveness of investment committees, and has acted as editor of a book on  the best practices in pension investments. Alfred serves on several investment committees and supervisory boards of pension funds, on the board of the Dutch CFA Society VBA Netherlands, as well on different working groups and committees to develop and monitor long-term investment and sustainability.

Blessmore Kazengura
Acting Commissioner of Insurance and Pensions

Blessmore Kazengura is the Insurance and Pensions Commission Finance Director and currently IPEC Acting Commissioner. He is a member of ACCA and holds an Honours Degree in Accounting obtained from the University of Zimbabwe. He completed his Articles of Clerkship with a local fi rm of Chartered Accountants before joining the Public Sector where he held various managerial positions within the audit and fi nancial management functions. He worked for one of the largest telecommunications companies in Zimbabwe before joining IPEC in December 2014. He has over 23 years working/consulting experience in various sectors of the Zimbabwean economy, including insurance and pensions sectors. Before joining IPEC, Blessmore also had exposure to the pensions industry as a trustee of a pension fund and was also a Non-Executive Director of a pool of pension funds where he chaired the Risk Management Committee.

Josphat Kakwere
Director Pension Department, Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC)

Josphat Kakwere is currently the Director Pension Department at the Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC). He has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services sector that includes 13 years in financial regulation. He worked for the Reserve bank of Zimbabwe before joining IPEC end of 2010. He holds a BSc Honours in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe and an MBA from the National University of Science and Technology Business School. He is married to one wife.

Michael Brian Mautsahuku
Company Secretary – Smartvest Asset Management

Michael is the Company Secretary and Portfolio Manager for Smartvest Wealth Managers (Pvt) Ltd. Before joining Smartvest, he worked for Kingdom Financial Holdings Limited, FBC Building Society and ZB Building Society. He is a Registered Public Accountant, Chartered Secretary and Banker and is an associate member of both the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSAZ) and the Institute of Bankers in Zimbabwe (IOBZ). He holds master’s degree in Professional Accounting and Corporate Governance from Great Zimbabwe University. Michael is the Harare Branch Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. A devout Catholic, Michael is a full member of the St. Joseph Guild and a Catechist specialising in Canon Law aspects of the Catholic Marriage Preparation Course. He is a specialist trainer and speaker in digital innovations including cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, online foreign currency and binary options trading.

Wadzanayi Bertha Phiri

She is the Managing Director and founder of Coronation Solutions (Private) Limited. A leading consulting fi rm providing Actuarial, Enterprise Risk Management and Financial Advisory services in Zimbabwe. Wadzanayi has over fi fteen years’ experience working in the insurance and pensions industry. She has vast experience managing stand- alone pension funds for medium to large corporations, consulting for insured pension funds, retirement planning; managing and financing of group risk benefits; design and financing of funeral and disability benefits and healthcare consulting. Prior to establishing Coronation, Wadzanayi was an Operations Director at Marsh Employee Benefits Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd. She was responsible for the Employee Health and Benefits business unit.


During her tenure she served in the region, driving Employee Health & Benefits sales growth in Malawi and Botswana. She also worked for Old Mutual, AON Zimbabwe (now MINERVA) and Comarton Consultants. She holds an MBA; Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Diploma in Insurance. Her areas of passion in business are Strategic Management; Operations Management; Project Management, Customer Relationship Management; Financial Management and Business Development. She served as the Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Association of Pension Funds; Board Member of the Investor Protection Fund; the Institute of Chartered Accountants & Insurance Committee and the Insurance & Pensions Housing Company Board.

Mark Hyde
Pentact Actuaries and Consultants

Mark Hyde is an actuary specialising in pension funds. He is a Fellow of both the Actuarial Society of South Africa and the UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. He has worked in the pensions industry in Zimbabwe for 35 years, mainly advising DB and DC self-administered pension funds on their financial position. He has also served on many Committees in the industry, including the ZAPF, and was treasurer of the Actuarial Society of Zimbabwe for many years.
